INSTALLATION

Proper prep is everything — skipping steps may reduce adhesion.

Before you begin:

  • Lay the decal flat, face-up with weight for 24 hours to release curl memory
  • Wall must be smooth, clean, dust-free, and completely dry
  • Painted walls must be latex-based and fully cured for at least 30 days

Installation steps:

  1. Choose placement. Many customers align the bottom edge with the baseboard for easy child access. A level can help if you want a precise guideline.
  2. Anchor the bottom. Peel 2–3 inches of backing at the bottom and press firmly. Don't remove the full backing at once — dust settles fast and reduces adhesion.
  3. Peel and smooth slowly. Continue peeling a little at a time, smoothing upward from center outward.
  4. Press the edges. Press firmly across the full surface, paying extra attention to edges. Use the included scraper tool for strong adhesion.

Because paint types, textures, and surfaces vary, we cannot guarantee adhesion to every wall type.
CARE & CLEANING

For everyday cleaning, wipe down with a damp cloth or baby wipe. For stubborn marks, a gentle pass with a Magic Eraser usually does the trick.

What to avoid:

  • Traditional chalk on white dry-erase surfaces
  • Abrasive cleaners or scrubbing cloths
  • Oil-based markers, chalks, or crayons (test in a small corner first)
  • Soaking the edges with water

A note on restickability: Archie can be removed and repositioned as long as the adhesive backing stays clean. If dust, lint, or debris gets on the adhesive, it may not restick as securely. We recommend covering exposed adhesive when the decal is off the wall.

We recommend testing any writing utensil in a small corner before regular use. Due to varying ink formulations, we cannot guarantee against staining.

How do I install the magnetic wall decal?

Our magnetic wall decals require proper preparation for best results.

Skipping steps may result in reduced adhesion.

BEFORE INSTALLATION (DO NOT SKIP)

  • Lay the decal flat, face-up with weight for 24 hours to remove curl memory
  • Wall must be smooth, very clean, dust-free, and completely dry. Painted walls must be latex-based and fully cured for 30+ days

INSTALLATION STEPS

  1. Decide Placement: Many customers align their decal with the baseboard for easy child access. (Optional) Use a level to mark a guideline.
  2. Anchor the Bottom: Starting at the bottom, peel 2–3 inches of backing and press firmly. Do not remove backing all at once — dust reduces adhesion.
  3. Peel & Smooth Slowly: Continue peeling backing a little at a time, smoothing upward from the center outward.
  4. Press & Secure: Press firmly across the entire surface, paying extra attention to edges. Use the included scraper tool to ensure strong adhesion.
  5. Ready for Use: Once installed, your decal is ready for lightweight magnets, dry-erase markers, wet-erase chalk, crayons, and water-based washable markers (depending on surface color

Installation Note: Archie and Mini Archie are designed for long-term installation on smooth walls. Because paints, textures, and surfaces vary,we cannot guarantee adhesion to every wall type. Do not install on freshly painted walls—wait at least 30 days for paint to fully cure.
What can I use to write on the magnetic wall decal?

Depending on the surface color, the magnetic wall decal works with:

  • Dry-erase markers
  • Wet-erase chalk markers
  • Water-based washable markers
  • Wet-erase whiteboard crayons
  • Traditional chalk (Do not use on the Whiteboard surface option)

Always test any writing tool in a small corner first, as ink and pigment formulations vary by brand and may stain.
What types of magnets work on the magnetic wall decal?

The decal works best with lightweight magnets such as our alphabet magnets or shaped magnet sets. Heavy or oversized magnets may not hold securely. It may or may not work with magnetic tiles, depending on the plastic's weight and thickness.
Is my wall compatible with the magnetic wall decal?

The magnetic wall decal is designed for indoor use and performs best on clean, smooth, non-textured surfaces such as:

  • Painted walls (latex-based only)
  • Smooth doors
  • Glass or mirror surfaces

For best results, install only on walls painted at least 30 days prior so the paint has time to fully cure.

The decal is not compatible with:

  • Oil-based paints
  • Textured or uneven walls
  • Stain-resistant, Teflon-based, or air-purifying paints
  • Fresh or uncured paint

Because every wall surface is different, we cannot guarantee adhesion on all surfaces. If you’re unsure, request a free sample to test before installing.
Can I reposition the magnetic wall decal once it’s installed?

No. Once the adhesive touches the wall, peeling and reapplying can introduce dust, weaken the adhesive, and affect long-term performance. This product is intended for one-time, long-term installation.
Where are your magnetic wall decals made?

Our magnetic wall decals are manufactured in China by a trusted production partner we’ve worked with for several years. We collaborate closely with our factory team, and they continue to make improvements in materials, adhesion, and quality to ensure our decals meet our high standards for safety, durability, and performance.
Will I have to pay duties or tariffs on my wall decal order?

All of our products ship from the USA, and all duties and import tariffs have already been paid before the items reach our warehouse.

If you are located in the United States, you will not receive any additional tariff or customs bills for your order.

For customers outside of the USA, duties, taxes, and import fees vary by country. International customers are responsible for all taxes, duties, VAT, and tariffs imposed by their government at the time of delivery.
Can I return a magnetic wall decal if it doesn’t stick?

Because compatibility varies by wall type and installation, we cannot accept returns on opened or installed decals.

Only unopened decals in their original packaging may be returned within 30 days.

In love!!

The Archie was super easy to put up and took less than 2minutes. Our wall has some texture but the arch went in smoothly. I love how it is compatible with magnatiles and other magnetic toys and is thick and durable. We also got the 2” and 1” rainbow letters and they are the perfect addition to our playroom.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

This is our new favorite thing to play with! My daughter absolutely loves magnets. We moved into a house that doesn't have a magnetic fridge door, so I bought one of these so she could still play with her magnets. It was surprisingly easy to put up, even by myself, and has so far held up really really well! It holds lightweight magnets very well. I am super happy with it!

Love it, but…

Part of the reason I bought it was so my son could use his magnetiles on it (as I saw in the photos). Unfortunately, the magnetiles are too heavy for the magnet - they just slide down the wall. I wish the magnet was a bit stronger so this was possible! Then it would be a slam dunk.

We got our decal as a gift Christmas 2024. I had been eyeing this decal and knew it was a newly released product. I love it!

Pros:
-kids love it!
-chalk easily washes off
-aesthetically pleasing

Cons:
-never got the most secure seal around edge during install. I have a corner secured with tape.
-can be scratched

Overall, super happy with this product. Make sure you don’t love your baseboards if gifting to kids to be used with chalk. Chalk does wash off baseboards, but it can get messy! This item has held up over one year, but I can’t see it lasting super long term. Wish they sold some sort of additional adhesive to get better fit to wall.

Worth it

Gorgeous color and really great size. The adhesive doesn’t damage your wall and you can easily move it (we did so once). Since the adhesive isn’t semi-permanent there are parts that keep coming off the wall slightly - which is a little bit of a trade off but it sticks back on with a gentle rub each time before use. Excellent customer service though - which alone will make me a forever customer. I hope they make larger sizes in the future

Worth the extra cost!

I shopped around for a magnet decal like this one at a couple places and ended up choosing TheTypeSetCo because of their comments in response to other customers. Such a fun addition to my son's room!!

My toddler is obsessed with pictures of our family and his friends. We don't have a magnetic fridge so we were looking for a way to put up photos for him that he could easily access and we stumbled upon this. Could not be happier with the magnetic wall! We had no issues hanging it up on my son's wall in his bedroom. Everyday he goes through the frame magnets on it and has so much fun! It looks really nice too. Very happy with it!

A little disappointed

Let me explain, I have been waiting for a magnetic wall decal. I wish the disclaimer for the product would have been more noticeable. To be honest, I saw that a magnetic wall decal was made and I didn’t even scan the page to find that there was a disclaimer drop down. It states that it needs to go on a smooth wall. Absolutely. My wall is hardly textured, and the decal did not stay up. I had to use command strips to attach it and keep it up completely. This tactic works for those curious. Anyway, my fault for not seeing the drop down disclaimer.
